National Safety
Science Campaign 2019

NSSC stands for the National Safety Science Campaign. This year, the scope of the program expands to engage college students as well as school children, with an opportunity for young individuals to get a film made on their safety initiative or any innovation that they have come up with in their immediate community. Safety Science will be taken to another dimension with these social media impact films, while keeping the core that is the National Safety Science Quiz intact as well as the Poster contest. Committed to making Safety Science an everyday phenomenon among children all over the country, the NSSC is back with a bang!
Underwriters Laboratories (UL), a premier global safety science company established since 1894 will be initiating and implementing the NSSC. Since our inception in 1894, we have partnered with diverse global stakeholders ranging from governments, manufacturers, academia, corporates and non-profits to further and promote safe living environments for all. UL’s Education and Outreach division is dedicated to progressing public safety, security, and well-being through independent research, standards, education, and outreach of scientific knowledge.

Participation in NSSC 2019

Through the website www.ulnssc.org. Any Indian student of an Indian school can access the website and register her/himself following the simple procedure laid out. Schools can also register their students in a block (or more) through the site/by email.
No, you can only participate in any one of the three programmes.
Participation in NSSQ 2019 begins at an individual level, but the Regional Quiz is a team event. The top 4 (at least 2) students from each school would be chosen to represent their school in the Regional Quiz. We recommend you make your school also aware of the program and ask your friends to register and take the quiz for greater participation.
You can also get one more friend to participate and the two of you can appear at the city round and represent your school as a team.
The Poster Contest is an individual program. Once a school registers, students can participate in the contest by creating their posters, which would be judged within the school to begin with. The best poster from each school would then be submitted to the ULNSSC.org website for a panel to judge. Finally, the top 10 posters from each region (based on the focus cities) will be selected for a public poll and be displayed at the Regional Quiz venues, where the audience will be given the chance to vote for them. The Winners will be declared after all the different judges’ scores are tallied along with the public votes. There will be a total of 10 (ten) winners, one from each region.
UL will not share the students’ data with any third party. Your information is safe with us.
No. Contestants who made it through to the televised episodes of the previous years cannot participate in any of the contests. In case any contestant is found to have participated in the previous editions of the campaign and made it through to the television rounds, s/he will be disqualified immediately, and any prizes won/awarded up to the stage will have to be returned to the organizers.

In case you have been registered by your school / college, the user ID and password will be sent to your school / college. You can get it from the school / college and start playing. In case of the poster contest, once you are registered, we will send you (or your school) a confirmation email. You can start working on your poster, and submit it to your school as per their schedule for judging. If your entry is selected, your school will inform us, and we will then communicate directly with you for further status updates.
